Date publishedDecember 9, 2025

Zagreb, 9 December 2025Boris Vidoš, project manager at ENNA, has been elected president of the Croatian branch of the international Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).

He was elected to a two-year term, succeeding Vladislav Brkić, dean of the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering (RGN) of the University of Zagreb, as president of the section.

Within the ENNA Group, Boris Vidoš works as project manager on the construction of the Zagocha geothermal power plant (GPP Zagocha) and is also actively involved in the development of the geothermal power plant project in Babina Greda.

SPE is an international association that brings together 132,000 members from 146 countries. The goal of the international SPE, as well as the Croatian section, is to connect engineers and scientists to exchange knowledge and innovations in the exploration and production of oil, gas, and related energy sources. Since the expertise of petroleum engineers can also be applied in the utilization of renewable energy sources such as geothermal power plants, the association is taking on an increasingly important role in advocating for the energy transition.

The Croatian branch was founded in 1995 and has around 60 senior members and 140 student members who participate through the student section. Boris has been a member of the Croatian section since 2015 and previously served as president of the SPE Zagreb Student Chapter.

On Thursday, 4 December 2025, on the feast day of Saint Barbara, the patron saint of miners and geologists, a special ceremony was held at the RGN faculty, during which Boris Vidoš received an award marking the 30th anniversary of SPE Croatia.

Last year, Boris Vidoš also received the SPE Europe Regional Young Professional Member Outstanding Service Award for the Southern, Central and Eastern Europe region for 2024.
