Zagreb, 28 May 2025 – Leo Prelec, Head of Regulatory Affairs at ENNA Group, participated in the conference “The Energy Future of Croatia,” held in Zagreb on Wednesday, 28 May 2025. The event was organised by the business weekly Lider and brought together numerous representatives from private companies, state institutions, and energy experts. The main topics included the green transition, geopolitical influences on the energy sector, the investment climate in Croatia, and the application of new technologies in energy.

Leo Prelec took part in a panel discussion titled “Geopolitical Winds and Energy at a Crossroads,” which addressed the impact of geopolitical instability on the energy sector as well as the direction and pace of the green transition in the EU. In this context, Prelec emphasised the importance of diversification and flexibility in business operations.

“ENNA has demonstrated throughout this recent period that it has adapted well; our customers have not experienced turbulence regarding supply security. It is crucial for us to remain a reliable partner, and equally important for our customers to have affordable energy and maintain competitiveness,” Prelec stated. He also presented additional energy services and products offered by ENNA, such as the construction of solar power plants, battery energy storage systems, and virtual power plants through aggregation.

He particularly highlighted the importance of harnessing geothermal energy and ENNA Group’s investments in developing geothermal power projects near Slatina and Babina Greda. He noted that while the regulatory framework in Croatia appears supportive on paper, unfortunately, this is not reflected in practice.

Alongside Leo Prelec, the panel featured Jasminka Horvat Martinović, CEO of Marsh McLennan Croatia; Dražen Jakšić, Director of the Hrvoje Požar Energy Institute; Ivan Paić, Member of the Management Board at Končar; and Vladislav Veselica, Member of the Management Board at JANAF.
