Watch the videos from the opening of the Rijeka Gateway terminal
Rijeka, September 29, 2025 - Two days ago, together with our colleagues from Rijeka Gateway and our partners from APM Terminals, we officially opened the Rijeka Gateway terminal in Rijeka. Our Communications and Marketing Department, in collaboration with Luka Rukavina, produced three videos presented at the event, which greatly contributed to the attractiveness of the ceremony.
The idea of building this terminal dates back several decades. And who knows how many more decades would have passed if the consortium of APM Terminals and ENNA Group companies hadn’t appeared and signed a 50-year concession agreement with the Port of Rijeka Authority in 2021. Just three years ago, the Zagreb Pier area was an empty space...
Therefore, in this video, we wanted to pay tribute to all the designers, engineers, and construction workers who, on a once-empty plateau in the heart of the city — where 400 tons of asbestos had stood for years and a dilapidated cultural monument was crumbling — built the most modern technological marvel known to the logistics industry today!
Take a look at why we call the Rijeka Gateway terminal sustainable and green. As much as 95% of its equipment is electric, and the energy that powers it comes exclusively from renewable sources, provided by the ENNA Group in line with our green agenda. It is very important to us that this terminal becomes a good neighbor to the citizens of Rijeka, to whom we wish to express our respect and gratitude. With this video, we wanted to show why the RGW terminal is an investment for future generations!
In cooperation with the Maritime Faculty in Rijeka and the Faculty of Economics in Osijek, and on the initiative of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK), a Study on the Economic Effects of the Port of Rijeka was presented this spring. It developed three scenarios of possible development for the Rijeka port basin and analyzed the impact of the port on the region.
Trains operated by ENNA Logic and ENNA Transport carry containers arriving at the port to Central Europe by rail. These trains replace 350 trucks per day, directly reducing traffic congestion on the roads of Rijeka and Croatia and lowering pollution — which will be even more important during the tourist season!
The next task is to ensure that this cargo continues its journey safely and efficiently. The construction of the lowland railway is essential for this terminal, and the entire Rijeka port basin to fully realize its potential.
Watch the video that highlights the economic impact and potential of the Rijeka Gateway terminal, which is yet to be unlocked.
