ENNA Next Battery Energy Storage System in Sveti Ivan Zelina

BESS and EMS platform

Date publishedJune 10, 2026

Zagreb, 10 June 2026 – ENNA Next has successfully commissioned another battery energy storage system (BESS) project. Located in Sveti Ivan Zelina, the system stores energy generated by an integrated solar power plant.

As the share of renewable energy sources continues to grow, so does the need for flexible solutions that enable efficient energy management. Battery energy storage systems (BESS) are becoming a key element of this flexibility and an active market tool that offers a range of benefits. They can store surplus energy for use at the most favourable time, improve the economics of renewable energy sources, strengthen energy independence and resilience to market changes, enable additional revenue through participation in different energy markets, and contribute to the stability of the electricity system.

The project in Sveti Ivan Zelina includes a battery energy storage system with an installed power of 750 kW and a capacity of 1,566 kWh, connected to an EMS platform for advanced energy management. The EMS is the “brain” of the system, automatically coordinating battery operation with solar power generation, the user’s consumption and market signals. This integration transforms the battery energy storage system from a simple energy storage unit into an active tool for optimising consumption, increasing flexibility and creating additional value for the user.
